WSIB

Workplace Safety and Insurance Board

Workplace Safety and Insurance Board

What does the WSIB do?

The Board pays workers injured on the job a percentage of lost wages and all medical expenses. As well as offers services and programs to help injured workers make an early, safe and successful return to work.

The WSIB covers accidents that happen at work and illnesses caused by conditions at work, including:
• an intentional act that is not done by the worker
• a chance event caused by something physical or natural
• disablement caused on the job, such as a disease or chronic condition

Are you a WSIB Claimant? What you need to know!

1. Do you have clinical findings to support a continued work-related impairment?

2. Do the clinical findings demonstrate that the pre-existing condition(s) are contributing to the ongoing impairment?

3. If so, is the contribution of the pre-existing condition so great that it has rendered the compensatable work-related impairment insignificant? Or has the mechanism of injury contributed to a permanent aggravation of the pre-existing condition(s), rendering current functional limitations?

Does the Medical Consultant’s opinion state you have no permanent restriction attributed to the underlying condition? What you need to do?

1. Call WSIB at 1-800-387-0750 and request form “Worker Request for Copy of Claim Form”. Or visit www.wsib.on.ca to search on line.

2. Ask your Medical practitioner for your Chart Notes for the three (3) years prior to your date of injury.

" We believe that people can be disabled from work, however, not disabled from life."
